02 | Granite

Granite showing unusual formations of mineral crystals. From De Lank Quarry, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall. BODMIN MOOR GRANITE from the De Lank Quarry, St Breward in 1956.  An unusual specimen containing an aggregate of large crystals (a pegmatite) of: 1. White feldspar and 2. Green (?) microline feldspar intergrown with 3. Quartz and enclosing 4. Black Tourmaline. There are smaller amounts of: 5. Biotite mica 6. Muscovite mica 7. Small Tourmaline clusters Presented by Revd. B. B. Clark, 1989

Brass Miner’s Dial, made by William Wilton of St. Day, Cornwall around 1842. This dial used theodolite principles for better accuracy in underground plans.
