01 | Shovel

Tin shovel found in tin streamworks below Temple bridge, Bodmin Moor. Around 800 years old.

02 | Shovel

Iron-shod oak shovel found in tin streamworks in Luxulyan. Around 400 years old.

03 | Fuses

Goose quills, like these, were used as fuses for explosives before the Safety Fuse was invented in 1831. They were unreliable and could cause explosions to occur in wanted places.

04 | Shovel

Oak shovel carved from one piece of wood, found in tin stream works at Carnon Valley in 1815.

05 | Pick

Pick made from antler, found in the Carnon Valley tin stream works in 1803.

06 | Fuse crimper

A fuse crimper used at Basset, Grylls and other Wendron mines 1920-39. It was used by Mr J.H. Moyle, who was a miner.
